Tulsa Officer on Leave After Shooting Man Armed with BB Gun
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa police say an officer who fatally shot a reportedly suicidal man remains on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
The department said Monday that Officer Daniel Madewell was involved in the fatal shooting Saturday when police were called to an apartment complex on reports of a suicidal man.
Authorities say the man was standing on his balcony when he pointed what appeared to be a weapon at Madewell, who opened fire.
Tulsa police say officers did not learn that the weapon was a BB gun until after the fatal shooting.
Tulsa police say Madewell was hired at the Tulsa Police Department in 2007.
Tulsa police have not yet released the name of the man who was killed, pending the notification of his relatives.

Lincoln `comfort' dog headed to Oklahoma
May 22, 2013 16:45 GMT
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- A Lincoln "comfort" dog that has been to several national tragedy sites this year is now in Oklahoma to help victims cope with the devastation caused by a massive tornado.
Lincoln television station KOLN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/11aPCT0) that Moses has been sent to comfort those affected by the Boston bombings, a West Texas explosion and school shootings in Newtown, Conn.
Moses is part of Lutheran Church Charities National K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.
Pastor Glen Keylon says Moses provides a lot of relief to people -- especially children -- when they are able to pet him during a tough time.
The massive tornado that tore through Moore, Okla., on Monday killed 24 -- including 10 children -- and injured more than 200.
