LUNCH LINK: Video of Skydiver's Steep Fall Without a Parachute
California Skydiver Gerardo Flores was lucky to survive a 13,000-foot fall.
Flores was 30 seconds into his 30th skydive when his parachute unexpectedly exploded out of the side at 13,000 feet.
Here's what Flores reporters about the incident,
"It just exploded … It just it yanked me to the side. Something went wrong … One hundred things go through your mind. You are never suppose to open above 6,000 feet. The FAA said you are the luckiest man I ever met.”

Flores passed out when his parachute failed did not land gracefully and sustained serious injuries including broken ribs and a lacerated tongue. Flores was unconscious after his parachute failed and spent the next two weeks in a coma.
The FAA looked into the accident and found that a "critical" Velcro strap was "completely worn" on Flores' gear. Investigators and inspectors also found that there were knots and some broken suspension lines on Flores' Parachute pack.

Okla. court upholds life sentence in uncle's death

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma appeals court has upheld the life prison sentence of a 38-year-old man who was convicted of first-degree murder for shooting his uncle to death.
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals handed down the decision Friday in the case of Patrick Shane Yargee. A jury in Tulsa County found Yargee guilty in the 2010 shooting death of 48-year-old David Willie Harjo.
Authorities alleged that Yargee shot Harjo eight times in a residence in northern Tulsa. Reports filed in the case indicate that the two men had an argument involving a woman before the shooting.
The five-judge court unanimously rejected Yargee's claims that he was denied a fair trial.
Yargee's defense attorney, Stuart Southerland of the Tulsa County Public Defender's Office, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
