Many Enjoy 'Snow Day' in Metro

Many in the metro turned Tuesday into a snow day, “You only get it a few times a year,” Susan Fleck said. She brought her two kids to a park just south of I-44 to sled. “I was begging for it all day,” Kendall Fleck said. Her son Nicholas even brought his snowboard to go down the hill, “You just have to try and keep your balance,” Nicolas said.
Snow fans say the park attracts dozens of people every time the snow falls, “Usually we see hundreds of people all day long, until like 11 pm,” Amber Lindauer said. She brought her 6-year-old daughter Peyton to sled. “Every time it snows we come out here, we just  bought this sled today, usually we use a cardboard box,” Lindauer said.
“We wanted to have some fun with the kids and stuff,” Chuck Furrow brought his family to the park Tuesday afternoon with discs and a sled. Furrow says the snow turns slushy quickly but is still good for sledding, “Just get somebody behind you to push really hard,” Furrow said.
Some had a few problems traveling back up the hill, “It’s slushy, so going back up the hill you just keep slipping and sliding, it’s muddy underneath,” Susan Fleck said. Many Enjoy 'Snow Day' in Metro

May 21, 2013 04:22 GMT

MOORE, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma highway officials say Interstate 35 in Moore has reopened in both directions.

But the Transportation Department said late Monday that travel in the Moore area was still discouraged.

The agency said first responders, utility crews and others performing official duties are working in the area and need clear lanes of travel.

The department says no other highways are closed due to the storms.
