Oklahoma Prosecutor Meets With Parole Board Attorney
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma County prosecutor has met with the attorney for the state Pardon and Parole Board as he investigates allegations the board violated the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act. District Attorney David Prater and board attorney Mack Martin met Friday. Prater believes the board violated the law about 50 times in the past three years by considering early release requests for inmates without proper public notification. No charges have been filed and board members say they acted legally under their authority to commute sentences. State prosecutors are calling for a new law that would require inmates to apply directly to the governor for a commutation. The governor then would decide whether or not to get a recommendation from the parole board before taking action. Copyright 2013 Associated Press. All rights reserved. Obama says nation must do more for fallen heroes

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says the nation must do more than just remember its fallen heroes on Memorial Day.
In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says the country must care for the loved ones the fallen leave behind. He says the country must also make sure that all veterans receive the care and benefits they have earned.
Obama says that, above all, the armed forces must have the support needed to carry out their missions at home and abroad.
In the Republican address, Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe thanks the nation for its prayers and support following Monday's deadly tornado in his home state. He recalls past natural and man-made disasters in Oklahoma and says that while the state was hard hit, "we're not knocked out."
