Mullin Aide Says Congressman, Family Threatened
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The chief of staff to newly-elected Republican U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin says the Republican congressman and his family have received death threats.
Karl Ahlgren said in a statement Saturday that the unspecified threat is being investigated and that precautions have been taken to protect Mullin and his family -- which includes his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Ahlgren said authorities are investigating the threat and referred questions to the U.S. House Sergeant of Arms staff -- which did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment. Ahlgren said Mullin's office will have no other comment.
Mullin won election as congressman from the 2nd Congressional District in southeastern Oklahoma. Incumbent Democratic Rep. Dan Boren did not seek re-election to the seat.
