Michelle Obama shows off new hairstyle: bangs
WASHINGTON (AP) -- There's something a little different these days about Michelle Obama: bangs in her hair.
The first lady's office posted a picture of Mrs. Obama's new do on her new Twitter feed Thursday. It shows her meeting at the White House with one of eight citizens named co-chairs of President Barack Obama's inauguration.
The last time Mrs. Obama was seen in public, earlier this month when she and her family returned from Hawaii, her dark, shoulder-length hair was held away from her face by a headband. Her next public appearances will come Saturday, when she helps kick off several days of inaugural festivities.
Thursday turned out to be a busy day for the first lady. Along with the new Twitter presence, she celebrated her 49th birthday.

Oklahomans witness tornado from ND oil patch
May 22, 2013 12:15 GMT
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) -- People from Moore, Okla., who were working in the North Dakota oil patch when a tornado devastated their city say waiting for word on whether their families were safe was a stressful time.
Monday's tornado killed at least 24 people, destroyed countless homes and an elementary school, killing seven children inside.
Contract pilot Liz Lillard was in Williston on Monday and watched a live feed of the tornado pass over her children's day care in Moore. She tells The Forum (http://bit.ly/193Q4dn ) the two hours it took to learn that her two children were safe was "torture."
Jason Kindred also was working in North Dakota on Monday when the tornado hit Moore. He says his wife and two children also are safe, but they almost were in the tornado's path.
