Report for 2011 Oklahoma State Plane Crash That Killed 4 Released
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- An investigative report into a plane crash that killed two Oklahoma State University basketball coaches and a couple ferrying them to Arkansas for a recruiting trip says the plane was inspected and its muffler repaired about a week before the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board report released this week says the single-engine plane was inspected Nov. 8, 2011. The plane crashed on Nov. 17, 2011, near Perryville, Ark.
OSU women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna died in the crash on their way from Stillwater, Okla., to Little Rock, Ark., where they planned to scout prospective recruits.
The pilot, former Oklahoma lawmaker Olin Branstetter, and his wife, Paula, also died in the crash.
A probable cause report is expected to come out in about three months.

AARP creates relief fund for Okla. tornado victims
May 23, 2013 07:36 GMT
EDMOND, Okla. (AP) -- AARP Oklahoma and the AARP Foundation have created a relief fund for the victims of Oklahoma's devastating tornadoes.
The new fund, called the AARP Foundation Oklahoma Tornado Relief Fund, will match contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $250,000. That means that as much as $500,000 in aid will be on hand once the match is met through contributions.
The foundation will give funds to organizations providing relief and recovery support to disaster victims. Losses are expected to top $1 billion.
The senior advocacy group says many older Oklahomans, including AARP members, are struggling to recover from the tornado's impact. Contributions for victims can be made through the AARP Foundation's website, where 100 percent of tax-deductible donations will be used to help the victims.
