Oklahoma Economic Growth Slows
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Treasurer Ken Miller says Oklahoma's economy is continuing to improve, but the pace slowed both last month and in 2012.
Miller released revenue figures Thursday that show overall receipts in December exceeded those from the same month in 2011 by 1.5 percent. That marks the eighth time in 2012 where monthly collections outpaced those from the same month of the prior year.
Miller said December sales tax collections, which reflect sales from mid-November to mid-December, were nearly 6 percent higher than those during the previous holiday season.
Overall, total gross revenue collections for 2012 totaled $11.1 billion, an increase of 3.8 percent over collections in 2011.
Miller also cited figures from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission that show Oklahoma added 60,000 jobs in 2012.

Oklahoma governor to tour tornado damage

SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- Gov. Mary Fallin is touring the areas hit hard by tornadoes Sunday.
The governor plans to visit Carney at 10 a.m. Monday before traveling to the Shawnee area. The governor plans to tour the Steelman Estates Mobile Home Park in Shawnee, where one person was killed.
Twenty-one people were also injured after severe weather raked the state.
The National Weather Service is forecasting more of the same for the area -- including Oklahoma City and Tulsa -- Monday afternoon and evening. Forecasters say baseball-sized hail and tornadoes are possible.
