Fires Destroy Two Homes On Christmas Eve

On Monday afternoon, there were two separate house fires in the metro. Both homes are a total loss.

First, there was a house fire in Midwest City. Fire officials say the two story home near Southeast 11th Street and Crosby Boulevard went up in flames while the owner was still in the home. They say a neighbor told the man his home was on fire. Fire crews were able to save a few of the family's belongings from the fire. The cause of that fire is still under investigation.

On Monday afternoon, Del City fire crews were called to a house fire near Southeast 15th Street and Shalimar Drive. That home is also a total loss. Fire crews say several family pets died in the fire. The Del City Fire Department believes the fire started around the family's Christmas tree. However, the cause is the fire is still under investigation.
