Shoppers in the Metro Gear Up for Cyber Monday

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK-- Goodbye to Black Friday and hello to Cyber Monday.  According to the research firm, Comscore, Americans are expected to spend $1.5 Billion on what's known as the biggest online shopping day of the year. 

Many shoppers in the metro, like Lelana Hefner, say they plan to cash in on Cyber Monday.  Hefner says for her family, it boils down to convenience.

"It's no muss and no fuss," said Hefner, "and it just shows up, it's nice!"

As a busy mother who works in retail, Hefner says it's not easy to get out and shop, which is why she researched the best deals, and mapped out a purchase plan for Monday morning.

"We've already got it ready," she said, "and we're just ready to push that 'let's go' button."

The convenience of online shopping appeals to many consumers, but social media expert, Patrick Allmond warns all holiday shoppers to be careful.  Always make sure you shop from a secure site.

"It's important to make sure that it's a secure site," said Allmond, "and the way you do that is you always look for that little lock some place on the screen which means it's a secure site."

Allmond says using a secure site prevents hackers from obtaining your personal information.  If you plan to use PayPal to make your online purchase, Allmond also advises consumers to double check the web address to make sure the website is the real PayPal.

"Make sure it's PayPal.com not PayPalUSA.com or something like that," said Allmond, "you can really get scammed badly."

Allmond also recommends comparing prices on Cyber Monday deals on apps like TGI's Cyber Monday application to make sure you're getting the best price on your item.  You can download the app online at http://www.tgicybermonday.com/.
