Lankford Elected to Leadership Post in Congress
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- U.S. Rep. James Lankford if Edmond has been elected to a leadership post for the upcoming session of Congress.
The Republican who was just re-elected to a second term in the U.S. House was elected Wednesday as chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee for the 113th Congress.
The committee is used for Republican House members to develop policies and legislative proposals.
Lankford won re-election earlier this month with nearly 60 percent of the vote over Democrat Tom Guild and two independents.
Lankford says he'll gather policy ideas from all of his colleagues and explore "principled solutions to the problems facing our nation."
He replaces U.S. Rep. Tom Price of Georgia on the committee after Price did not see re-election to the post.

Judge OKs stay in hearing over 4 Tulsa deaths
May 24, 2013 23:06 GMT
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A judge has approved a five-day stay in the preliminary hearing of two brothers charged with killing four women in Tulsa.
The Tulsa World reports (http://bit.ly/10u9DoC ) Presiding Judge William Kellough approved the temporary stay on Friday after denying a motion to recuse the judge assigned to the case of James and Cedric Poore.
The defense now has five days to appeal Kellough's denial before the case returns to the jurisdiction of Special Judge Stephen Clark in Tulsa County District Court.
However, the court's schedule won't allow a preliminary hearing to resume until July 15.
The Poores have pleaded not guilty to charges related to the January deaths of Misty Nunley, Julie Jackson, Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor. The four women were found tied up and shot in the head.
