Standoff Leads to Murder Investigation
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--A standoff with police leads to a murder investigation, after officers find the body of an elderly woman.
Family members requested a welfare check on the woman Friday, after they say she hadn't made her daily phone calls or errands.
The family also says she was living with her adult son who was mentally ill.
Police say during the welfare check, the woman's son Gerald Hume would not let police enter the home.
The family requested a second welfare check Sunday, but again were not allowed inside the home.
Oklahoma City police executed a search warrent Tuesday.
Officers negotiated with Hume for twelve hours before forcing their way inside the home.
That's where they discovered the elderly woman's body. Hume was taken into custody on complaints of murder and pointing a firearm at an officer.
The Medical Examiner's office will determine how the woman died.
Police are not releasing the woman's identity, until other family members are notified of the woman's death.
