Gun Sales Shoot Up After President Obama's Re-Election

Gun stores across the metro are seeing a rise in gun sales.

“We sold everything. If I wouldn't have been nailed down they would have sold me,” said Clay Hoover with Heartland Outdoors.

It’s not just guns and ammo on the rise. Heartland saw a record number of people sign up for a concealed carry permit.

“We sold out an entire class in a matter of an hour and a half,”

Hoover says it is no coincidence this happened a day after President Obama was re-elected.

“People fear they can't have something the first thing they’re going to do is go buy something.  People remember his comment from a few weeks ago wanting to reinstitute gun bans. ”

Gun enthusiasts are worried.

“I’m definitely concerned they're going to take away my firearms,” said Trevor Hale.

Hale plans to stock up on ammo while he can.

“In case there's a ban on how much we can buy, what we can buy or what we can't buy.”

Hoover says sales will probably not slow down any time soon.

“Barrack Obama has a long history of being anti-gun.”

He says as long as he is in office…

“Sales will drive up.”

One gun brand reported $40 million in sales in just four hours Wednesday morning.

Moore post office service increases; streets open
May 24, 2013 17:29 GMT

MOORE, Okla. (AP) -- Public agencies in Moore have opened streets to residents and resumed mail delivery to as many addresses as possible.

At a news conference Friday, police said residents in the hardest-hit areas can go back into their neighborhoods without having to deal with police checkpoints. Some road closures may still occur as utility crews work to restore service.

Moore's postmaster said 85 percent of mail delivered from the Moore station is being delivered, and that mail deliveries from the Santa Fe station are up to 95 percent.

For those whose mail is not being delivered, those with ZIP codes 73153 and 73160 can pick up mail at the Airport Finance unit on Air Cargo Road.

Those in ZIP code 73170 can go to the Santa Fe station for their mail.
