OKC Police Review Training After Recruits Death
The Oklahoma City police department has suspended one part of its training program after the death of a police recruit.
Police say 38-year-old Kelley Chase died after hitting his head on a mat during a custody control and defense training exercise on Friday. That exercise is now suspended.
Chief Bill Citty says that the department will review its procedures to determine if anything can be done differently, such as adding training helmets.
Citty says a safety officer is present but he says the recruits must also be put in positions they may have to deal with when trying to arrest a suspect on the street.
Police say Chase was going through his final custody control and defense training test when he hit his head.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Graduating high schoolers say they don't want to move away from Moore after a tornado devastated a section of their town.
Westmoore High School Senior Alex Davis says staying close is a way to show "that a disaster can't beat us."
And senior Cameron Knight says if he had a choice to live anywhere in the country, he'd still pick his hometown.
Westmoore was the first of three schools to hold commencement ceremonies Saturday at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City
The Oklahoma City suburb was hit by a strong tornado Monday; 24 people died and hundreds were injured.
The Moore School District canceled its school year after the tornado hit the Plaza Towers and Briarwood elementary schools, but wants graduation ceremonies to go on.
