Game Day Travel Tips

Thousands of Sooner fans will be making the trip to Dallas for this year's Red River Rivalry.  The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says it's one of the busiest travel days for Oklahomans.
However ODOT and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are warning travelers about the drive.  ODOT says drivers should leave plenty of time to reach their destination, and to not cut the trip close.  They also say to pay attention to speed limits, because for many drivers, it will be their first trip to the game.
ODOT spokesman Cole Hackett says two major projects near the Oklahoma-Texas border are being stopped for the weekend.  However Hackett says drivers should still be prepared.
"Safety is our number one priority, even though there might not be a project in the area, we ask people to make sure to more than anything set aside their distractions and put down their phone" says Hackett.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is also increasing patrol units over the weekend.  OHP says they will use two airplanes, as well as increased patrols on the ground to look for aggressive drivers.
ODOT says the two projects that were stopped for travelers will resume sometime Monday.Game Day Travel Tips

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- An international delegation of leaders in the energy sector is in Tulsa to learn from companies operating in the region.

A representative from Romania's parliament, Silvia Vlasceanu, says his country uses coal, natural gas and hydroelectric power but is trying to settle on the most appropriate mix. The delegation visiting this week also includes leaders from Angola, China, Nigeria and Turkey.

The Tulsa World reports (http://is.gd/AMf1vp ) that members want to learn about the risks of hydraulic fracturing, how renewable energy sources can replace fossil fuels and whether energy independence is a realistic goal.

The group also visited Washington, D.C., and the rich Marcellus natural gas shale in Pennsylvania.
