Pressure on Romney to spend more time explaining plan

UNDATED (AP) -- The presidential candidates have been taking a break today, leaving the campaign pitches to surrogates.
Mitt Romney hasn't made any public appearances this weekend, but has been attending fundraisers in California. Tonight, he'll go back to a public schedule, with a speech in Denver.
After a difficult week in which a secretly recorded video emerged showing the GOP nominee saying half of Americans are dependent upon government and see themselves as victims, Romney is under pressure to spend more time explaining his plans to voters.
But, the Republican party's chairman maintains last week was a "good" one for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. Reince Priebus tells ABC's "This Week" that Romney and his backers "were able to frame up the debate," which he says boils down to "what future do we want?"
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama's top strategist says fresh campaign ads from the Romney campaign attacking the president miss the point. Also appearing on ABC, David Axelrod says Romney and his team "haven't offered ideas about how they're going to lift up the country."

Okla. governor signs abortion bill, 20 other bills
May 24, 2013 21:20 GMT

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has signed legislation that requires abortion providers to take additional steps to notify the parents of a minor who is seeking an abortion.

The measure was among 21 bills Fallin signed into law on Friday, when the Legislature planned to adjourn its 2013 legislative session.

The bill prohibits a minor from getting an abortion until at least 48 hours after written notice has been provided to her parent or guardian, except in cases of a medical emergency. In that case, the physician must verbally inform a parent within 24 hours after the abortion and send a written notice to the parent's last known address.

The bill includes an exemption for girls who are the victims of sexual or physical abuse.
