Former Oklahoma Judge Who Pled No Contest Suspended
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A former Oklahoma judge who pleaded no contest to violating the computer crimes act by downloading obscene videos on his state computer has been suspended from practicing law for one year. The Oklahoma Supreme Court took the action Monday against former Harper County Associate District Judge George Wayne Olmstead. Olmstead was suspended for one year from March 12, when the state's highest court imposed an interim suspension. In handing down the suspension, the court said Olmstead's conduct was an abuse of trust. The 64-year-old Olmstead pleaded no contest in January and received a one-year deferred sentence and probation. Olmstead resigned as a judge as part of his plea agreement and was required to undergo a mental health evaluation. He also must pay about $4,000 in court costs.

Obama says nation must do more for fallen heroes
May 25, 2013 10:08 GMT
By DARLENE SUPERVILLE Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says the nation must do more than just remember its fallen heroes on Memorial Day.
In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says the country must care for the loved ones the fallen leave behind. He says the country must also make sure that all veterans receive the care and benefits they have earned.
Obama says that, above all, the armed forces must have the support needed to carry out their missions at home and abroad.
In the Republican address, Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe thanks the nation for its prayers and support following Monday's deadly tornado in his home state. He recalls past natural and man-made disasters in Oklahoma and says that while the state was hard hit, "we're not knocked out."
