CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) -- The average U.S. price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 8 cents over the past two weeks.
That's according to the Lundberg Survey of fuel prices, which puts the price of a gallon of regular at $3.84.
Midgrade costs an average of $3.99 a gallon, and premium is at $4.12.
Diesel rose 9 cents to $4.14 a gallon.
Of the cities surveyed in the lower 48 states, El Paso, Texas, has the nation's lowest average price for gas at $3.44. Chicago has the highest at $4.30.
In California, the lowest average price was $4.05 in Bakersfield. San Francisco has the highest at $4.19. The average statewide for a gallon of regular was $4.13.
In a separate survey, the auto club AAA puts the average price at the pump nationwide of $3.83 per gallon.
Officials with AAA say prices are expected to decline as demand decreases with the end of the summer driving season and the end of hurricane season. Refineries also are switching to less expensive winter-blend gasoline.

House passes GOP bill to speed pipeline approval
May 23, 2013 10:38 GMT
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans have pushed through legislation to bypass the president to speed approval of the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to Texas.
The bill was approved 241-175 largely along party lines. It's unlikely to be taken up by the Democratic-controlled Senate.
Democrats criticized the legislation as a blatant attempt to allow a foreign company to avoid environmental review. Republicans say the measure is needed to ensure that the pipeline first proposed in 2008 is built.
The measure would deem the project approved without a presidential permit, as required under current law, and with no further environmental review. It also would limit legal challenges to the project.
President Barack Obama has twice thwarted the pipeline project amid concerns about a proposed route through environmentally sensitive land in Nebraska. The White House approved a southern portion of the project from Oklahoma to Texas.
