Officer Involved Shooting in Seminole Leaves One Man Dead

SEMINOLE, OK-- A man dies after an officer involved shooting in Seminole.  OSBI says Aaron Palmer died at a Shawnee Hospital after getting shot in the chest.

"He was an outstanding young man," said Kent Dawson, a neighbor who witnessed the shooting, "he was a friend to everybody on the block."

OSBI says Seminole County Law Enforcement Officers served a felony warrant for Palmer's father, Randall.  Officials say Palmer threatened an officer with a knife before he was shot.

"It must have been a bad deal for them to actually shoot," said Flint Gibbon, another neighbor who witnessed heard the gunshot.

OSBI says the officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.  The district attorney will determine whether the shooting is justified.

Despite Palmer's alleged threat to law enforcement, Dawson, his next door neighbor says Palmer did not deserve to die.

"There's an innocent man dead," Dawson explained, "yeah, he was wrong."

Although Dawson supports Palmer, Gibbon says officers had the right to shoot him.

"If someone came at me with a knife under those circumstances, I would probably do the same thing," said Gibbon.
