Embezzlement Called a Family Affair
Update:
Ronnie West has been taken into custody at the Beckham County Jail. Sheila Elizondo is expected to turn herself in tomorrow. The warrant for her arrest has been pulled. Jean West is out of country at this time.
OSBI says they've uncovered a family embezzling ring in Beckham County. The Beckham County Sheriff's Office requested agents investigate money disappearing from the Beckham County Rural Water District #2 located in Erick. Following a long investigation, agents determined Ronnie West, his wife Jean West and their daughter Shelia Elizondo had taken thousands of dollars from the district.
Agents believe they used their new found cash to purchase Ipods, a flat-screen television and even tires. A judge issued warrants for their arrest today. Ronnie was arrested tonight. His daughter got a lawyer and plans to turn herself in tomorrow and deputies say Jean is out of the country at this time.
Ronnie worked as the manager for BCRWD2 for 20 years, Jean worked as the office manager for 10 years and Shelia worked on and off for the board and as office manager for several years. None of them currently work for district.
