What to do in a Mass Shooting Situation

If you were in a movie theater and a gunman walked in and started firing, what would you do? "I'd pray... and duck," said one woman. "If you get up and run, it makes you a target," said one man. "I have absolutely no idea," said another.

Fox 25's Kisha Henry shows us a new viral video, funded by the Department of Homeland Security, that's helping people know their options. Run, hide or fight.

Law enforcement officers say it can happen, and you should be prepared with a plan. Before you enter an establishment, always think about what you would do if it happened. Capt. Tim Dorsey with the Edmond Police Department says you should choose your seat, according to your escape plan.

You can run. "If you can safely get away, that's the best thing to do," says Capt. Dorsey.

You can hide. "If I was in an office building, I might be better off just to lock the door and turn the lights off," says Capt. Dorsey.

Another option? Fight. "I would hope I would do something valiant, like go out there and try to take the guy out," said one man. "As a last resort, if you're scared for your life, you may very well have to fight," says Capt. Dorsey.

Capt. Dorsey says each scenario is situational, and you should choose your best options based on factors, like the size of the area, if you have children with you, etc.

Tornado watch issued for western, central Oklahoma
May 18, 2013 22:57 GMT

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A tornado watch is in effect for western and central Oklahoma.

The weather system brought severe thunderstorms to the Altus and Clinton areas, as well as Harper County late Saturday afternoon. There were no reports of rotation as evening approached but the tornado watch lasts until 11 p.m. Saturday.

The dangerous weather is forecast to continue into Sunday night as the system progresses to the east.

The tornado watch area Saturday stretched from eastern edge of the Panhandle to include the Oklahoma City area.

Forecasters warn that the system could also bring large hail.

The National Weather Service in Norman reports tennis ball-size hail along U.S. 62 near the border of Harmon and Jackson counties in the state's far southwest.
