Spencer Assault

SPENCER, OK-- Spencer Police Department opens an investigation on former police officer, Pastor Charles Wyatt.  Police say Wyatt is accused of assaulting a 13 year old boy.

The victim's mother, Angela Normand says her son was assaulted by Wyatt before attending a field trip to a state prison as part of a reality check program for troubled teens.  Normand says her son suffered a concussion and showed Fox-25 several pictures of bruises her teen sustained during the alleged altercation with Wyatt.

"We forgive him, but won't forget the incident," Normand said of Wyatt in a statement, "he was our former pastor and friend."

Normand says Wyatt is a pastor at Greater Praise Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

"I'm going to help Sister Normand with whatever I need to help her with," said Wyatt.

Wyatt plans to help Normand pay for her son's medical bills, but says the 13 year old approached him in an aggressive manner.  Wyatt says the force he used against the teen, was necessary to defend himself, and believes Spencer Police are going too far with this investigation.

"It's frivolous and it's a vendetta type situation," claimed Wyatt, "so I have to deal with it."

Wyatt believes Spencer Police Chief, Virgil Green is retaliating against him.  Chief Green says the department has followed standard protocol, and it upsets him to open an investigation on one of his former brothers in the police force.

"It's something that you definitely don't want to deal with," Chief Green explained.

Green says Wyatt could face charges of assault and battery, and expects to file charges against Wyatt next week.  Spencer Assault

Lincoln `comfort' dog headed to Oklahoma
May 22, 2013 16:45 GMT

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- A Lincoln "comfort" dog that has been to several national tragedy sites this year is now in Oklahoma to help victims cope with the devastation caused by a massive tornado.

Lincoln television station KOLN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/11aPCT0) that Moses has been sent to comfort those affected by the Boston bombings, a West Texas explosion and school shootings in Newtown, Conn.

Moses is part of Lutheran Church Charities National K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry.

Pastor Glen Keylon says Moses provides a lot of relief to people -- especially children -- when they are able to pet him during a tough time.

The massive tornado that tore through Moore, Okla., on Monday killed 24 -- including 10 children -- and injured more than 200.
