Oklahoma Native Wes Welker is Moving Closer to Home
Heritage Hall High School graduate Wes Welker has signed with the Denver Broncos.
The Oklahoma City native agreed to a deal with the Broncos Wednesday, the second of free agency in the NFL.
According to ESPN, the deal is reportedly worth $12 million over two years.
Welker has been a fan favorite since he arrived in New England in 2007 and was a favorite target of quarterback Tom Brady.
Welker was born in Oklahoma City and played football at Heritage Hall High School. In his junior year, he helped lead the team to the 2A State Football Championship.
Welker went to school at Texas Tech and signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2004 but was released after the first game of the season. He then signed with the Miami Dolphins. In 2007 he was traded to the New England Patriots where he became a star and favorite target of Brady.
Welker has stayed active in the Oklahoma City community. He started a foundation, The Wes Welker Foundation, which provides a free camp for students on free or reduced lunches.

Search continues in creek for missing Okla. teen
May 25, 2013 22:59 GMT
KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities continue to search for a Kingfisher teenager who disappeared after jumping into Uncle John Creek.
Police say 17-year-old Taylor Faine jumped into the creek Thursday and did not resurface. Kingfisher Fire Chief Randy Poindexter told The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/10s2oB6 ) on Saturday that manmade dams have been built in hopes of finding Faine's body.
Authorities say Faine was swimming with friends in an area where no swimming signs are in place because of dangerous currents in the creek.
