Teacher Admits to Sexting Teen; Tells Officers "I Don't Want to be on Dateline"
Oklahoma County deputies arrested a Choctaw middle school teacher who they say was making indecent proposals to two underage students.
The investigation began in October 2012. Officials say David Griggs was a substitute teacher and coach at Choctaw Middle School when he had a conversation with a 14-year-old girl that made the girl's father uncomfortable. When he turned the conversation into police, they discovered he was having another electronic conversation with another girl who was now in high school.
According to investigators, the conversation began on Facebook and the two exchanged phone numbers and began texting. Police say Griggs sent her pictures of his penis and wanted her to send him a picture. The girl told police she sent a picture of her "bottom" to him.
In December, Griggs called deputies and said he wanted to make a statement about the incidents. According to investigators, Griggs confirmed all of the details. He told police he was hoping to come in and get probation so he "didn't end up on Dateline or something"
Griggs also said he was also exchanging explicit pictures with a teenager in Holdenville. Police have not yet located that girl.
He was arrested for indecent or lewd proposals to a child under 16.
