Woodward County Snow Danger Remains
Woodward County got pounded with more than a dozen inches
of snow. Even though the storm is over, the threat of danger is not. The
aftermath of the storm has proven to be even more dangerous for some residents.
The Director of Emergency Management for Woodward County
says Woodward and the surrounding area got hit with at least 15 inches of snow.
"We've had drifts reported over six feet in this
area," said Matt Lehenbauer, Woodward County Emergency Management
Director.
Power outages are still plaguing Woodward County. Homes
and vehicles are still buried beneath inches of snow. But a bigger danger still
lingers, after Monday's storm proved to be deadly.
collapsed on an elderly man, a 71-year old man and he was found dead at the
scene," said Lehenbauer.
There was yet another roof collapse at the Siemen's
plant, five miles west of Woodward.
"That was a very large facility and we've had a
portion of that roof collapse," said Lehenbauer.
Several roads in Woodward County are still shut down.
Emergency Management says it's best to stay off the roads until all the snow is
cleared.

KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities continue to search for a Kingfisher teenager who disappeared after jumping into Uncle John Creek.
Police say 17-year-old Taylor Faine jumped into the creek Thursday and did not resurface. Kingfisher Fire Chief Randy Poindexter told The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/10s2oB6 ) on Saturday that manmade dams have been built in hopes of finding Faine's body.
Authorities say Faine was swimming with friends in an area where no swimming signs are in place because of dangerous currents in the creek.
