Three Alarm Fire Damages Beds Direct Warehouse
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK-- A three alarm fire damages the Beds Direct warehouse on the 4200-block of West Reno Avenue.
Oklahoma City Firefighters say they believe the fire sparked from a pick-up truck parked inside the building. The manager of Beds Direct says employees will often park their cars inside the warehouse.
"We put them in at night," said Victor Kotulek, manager of Beds Direct, "so nobody steals them."
Employees at Beds Direct told Fox-25 when they heard the fire alarm go off Sunday afternoon, they walked into the warehouse, and saw the truck engulfed in flames.
"The pick-up had a fire going in the engine compartment," said Kotulek, "and it caused the rest of it as far as we can tell."
Employees say they used three extinguishers in an attempt to douse the fire, but could not bring it under control. Once fire crews arrived, Oklahoma City Firefighters had the flames contained within hours.
"All the fire and the damage that we know is contained to the rear section of the warehouse," said Deputy Chief Marc Woodard.
Oklahoma City Firefighters say the fire destroyed hundreds of beds and other furniture stored in the warehouse. The Oklahoma City Fire Department estimates the fire caused $230,000 worth in damage.

Okla. governor signs abortion bill, 20 other bills
May 24, 2013 21:20 GMT
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has signed legislation that requires abortion providers to take additional steps to notify the parents of a minor who is seeking an abortion.
The measure was among 21 bills Fallin signed into law on Friday, when the Legislature planned to adjourn its 2013 legislative session.
The bill prohibits a minor from getting an abortion until at least 48 hours after written notice has been provided to her parent or guardian, except in cases of a medical emergency. In that case, the physician must verbally inform a parent within 24 hours after the abortion and send a written notice to the parent's last known address.
The bill includes an exemption for girls who are the victims of sexual or physical abuse.
