Pryor, Google Team up to Offer Free Wi-Fi Network
PRYOR, Okla. (AP) -- The City of Pryor and Internet giant Google have teamed up to provide a free public Wi-Fi network in the community's downtown area.
Google operates a data center located in an industrial park near the city and provided a $200,000 grant to make the high-speed wireless Internet available.
Pryor Mayor Jimmy Tramel says he hopes to expand the Wi-Fi network within the next five years to encompass the entire city, which is located about 30 miles east of Tulsa.
Construction on the network is expected to begin next month and be completed by the end of the year. Tulsa-based Techsico will install and maintain the network.

Alcohol, speed in boat crash fatal to students
May 23, 2013 11:47 GMT
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A preliminary report on a northeast Oklahoma boat crash that killed two University of Arkansas students says excessive speed, driver inattention and alcohol use contributed to the accident.
Grand River Dam Authority police said in a report Wednesday that the driver of a 21-foot boat, John Deselms of Tulsa, was cited at a Vinita hospital on a charge of operating a vessel under the influence. He wasn't taken into custody because of his medical condition.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://is.gd/yvywDo ) that Deselms told investigators he drank 10 beers and a shot of tequila before his craft rammed a 96-foot houseboat on Grand Lake. The report says Deselms also took antidepressant medication.
Rachel Nichole Swetnam of Grove and William Lewis Varner III of Texarkana, Ark., died in the May 14 crash.
