Oklahoma State Clamps Down on Texas Tech, 79-45

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Markel Brown scored 21 points, Phil Forte hit four 3-pointers and had 19 points and Oklahoma State routed Texas Tech 79-45 on Saturday.
After losing the Bedlam rivalry game last weekend against Oklahoma, the Cowboys (12-4, 2-2 Big 12) called this "Commitment Week" and dedicated themselves to returning to the stiff defense that had propelled them into the Top 25 earlier this season.
They ended up holding Texas Tech (8-8, 1-4) to a season-worst 29 percent shooting. Jaye Crockett scored 11 points and Jordan Tolbert added 10 for the Red Raiders, who lost their fourth straight game after opening conference play with a win at TCU.
Oklahoma State stifled any chance for a Tech comeback with a 19-5 run just after halftime that featured a driving, right-handed slam and a 3-pointer from Brown. A pair of free throws from Forte extended the lead to 54-31 with 11:23 remaining.

Oklahoma lawmakers plan $45 million tornado relief

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma lawmakers have begun the process of appropriating millions of dollars in emergency funds to help pay the cost of recovering from tornadoes that have ravaged parts of central Oklahoma.

Separate committees of the House and Senate on Tuesday approved a plan to appropriate $45 million from the state's Rainy Day Constitutional Reserve Fund. The money will go to the State Emergency Fund to help recover from a massive tornado that struck Moore on Monday, killing at least 24 people. A separate tornado on Sunday left two dead in Shawnee.

Republican Sen. Clark Jolley of Edmond says the money will help the Department of Emergency Management match disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency or to pay costs not covered by federal dollars.
