American Idol in Oklahoma City Preview
The hit Fox singing show had two rounds of auditions here in the Sooner State.
Round one was held at the Chesapeake Arena in July and then the folks who made it to round two were invited to the Devon Boathouse in November.
People came from as far away as Oregon and as close as right here in Oklahoma City for the auditions.
Round Two had a more intimate feel as families were invited along for the ride. This, so American Idol could get the families' reactions as their singer left the judges with or without that coveted Golden Ticket.
Judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nikki Minaj, and Mariah Carey were all in Oklahoma for the auditions, along with Ryan Seacrest, who says, "We're here expecting big things. We've got an enthusiastic group as we start the day, not only the panel enthusiastic but the contestants and their families." He goes on to say this about Oklahoma singers. "They have a lot of pride musically. They sing from the heart. Musically, people I've been able to meet and see they love what they do when they get up to perform ."

May 25, 2013 22:59 GMT
KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities continue to search for a Kingfisher teenager who disappeared after jumping into Uncle John Creek.
Police say 17-year-old Taylor Faine jumped into the creek Thursday and did not resurface. Kingfisher Fire Chief Randy Poindexter told The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/10s2oB6 ) on Saturday that manmade dams have been built in hopes of finding Faine's body.
Authorities say Faine was swimming with friends in an area where no swimming signs are in place because of dangerous currents in the creek.
