Grammy Winning Band May Bring Millions of Dollars to Small Oklahoma Town
GUTHRIE, OK--A big announcement for a small town could bring millions of dollars into the economy.
Grammy award-winning Mumford and Sons named Guthrie as one of its stops on their Gentlemen of the Road Tour.
The tour consists of small towns all over the world, and bringing big bucks into the local economies.
"It's really going to put us on the map, so they're going to know who we are and how neat our city is" says Cindy Mcghee, manager at the Blue Belle Saloon.
The two day concert is expected to bring in forty-five thousand people into the town, which could mean a lot of money for small businesses around town.
"I am so excited as a business owner, just because of the revenue it's going to bring in, and put us on the map" says Mcghee.
However, the decision to come to Guthrie was not made overnight.
"In early November we got a phone call saying, hey this is Jam Productions, we represent Mumford and Sons for the Gentlemen of the Road Tour, and at that point, I didn't believe who was on the other end of the line" says Cody Mosely, Director of Economic Development for Guthrie.
The concert has had a lot of success in other cities, and Guthrie hopes the trend will continue, and bring up to four million dollars into the economy.
"I think Guthrie is going to be known as a town for entertainment, an entertainment town, an entertainment destination if you will" says Mosely.
Only 25,000 tickets will be available for the concert.

Fairchild still candidate for new planes
May 22, 2013 15:53 GMT
By NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS Associated Press
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Officials in Washington are expressing disappointment that Fairchild Air Force base was not chosen as the first home of the Air Force's new aerial refueling tankers.
Members of the Kansas congressional delegation announced Wednesday that McConnell Air Force Base in Topeka, Kan., was chosen as the first base to receive the new Boeing-built KC-46A tankers.
Fairchild, the Spokane area's largest single employer, remains a candidate to receive new tankers later.
The new aircraft will replace the aging KC-135 fleet flown by crews, including those at Fairchild, for the past 50 years. The Air Force will base 36 of the new aircraft at McConnell starting in 2016.
Fairchild was finalist for the job, along with bases in North Dakota and Oklahoma.
