IN THE NEWS: TEENS MOVING TO TWITTER TO DODGE PARENTS, OTHER BORES
WASHINGTON (AP) -- If you're one of those parents who are on Facebook in part to keep an eye on what your kids are up to -- here's a news flash: your kids are on to you and have moved to Twitter. A new poll finds that a growing number of teens are tipping over to Twitter to avoid their parents and what they consider the "oversharing" they find on Facebook. In the Research Center poll, 94 percent of teens who are social media users have a profile on Facebook -- that's unchanged from the year before. Meanwhile, 26 percent of teen social media users are now on Twitter -- more than double from the 12 percent on that site in 2011.
IN THE NEWS: MICROSOFT ANNOUNCES NEW GAMING CONSOLE
REDMOND, Wash. (AP) -- Microsoft has taken its time letting on about its new game system. But it's counting on consumers feeling that the new Xbox One will be worth the wait. The company says the new system is more of an "all-in-one home entertainment system" than just a game-playing console. During a presentation at its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, Microsoft officials showed off how the Xbox One can use voice commands to effortlessly switch back and forth between live TV, music, playing movies and -- oh, did we mention, play video games? Microsoft is the last of the three major console makers to trot out a new system. It will go on sale later this year -- with the price yet to be disclosed.
