Drug testing expanded to lawmakers, CEOs
March 10, 2010 12:27 EST
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A bill to require those receiving federal aid for needy families to undergo drug testing has been expanded to include state elected officials and certain executives.
Sen. Anthony Sykes' bill initially required the Department of Human Services to set up drug testing for applicants to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.
The bill was amended Wednesday in the state Senate to expand drug testing to include state elected officials and top executives of any Oklahoma company that receives state tax breaks.
Both amendments were adopted without dissension and the bill passed 44-0.
The bill now heads to the House and must return to the Senate for another vote.
