The Oklahoma City Thunder handed the Philadelphia 76ers their 15th straight loss 125-92. Russell Westbrook set a franchise record with eight assists in the first quarter, which was an indication of the kind night he would have.
Westbrook played just 21 minutes but put together a triple double. He scored 13 points, dished out 14 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds to go with three steals.
It wasn't that long ago that the Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball team was in the midst of a seven game losing streak. Fast forward to Marcus Smart returning from a three game suspension and the Cowboys have won four in row. The latest win was Monday night's 77-61 win over Kansas State.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys beat the Kansas Jayhawks 72-65 to give their NCAA Tournament hopes a nice boost. Marcus Smart and Markel Brown each scored 21 points with Smart scoring 20 of his points in the second half. LeBryan Nash added 16 for the Cowboys, who improved to 19-10 overall and 7-9 in the Big 12. Oklahoma completed a two game sweep of the Texas Longhorns in men's basketball with a 77-65 win in Norman. The win moved Oklahoma into a four way tie for second place in the Big 12. The Sooners are 10-6 in the league along with Iowa State, Kansas State and Texas.

The headline says it all. There has been no "D" as in defense in Oklahoma City's game since they returned from the All Star Break. Not only are they 0-3 during that time but they've given up an average of 114 points per game.
In their loss to the Los Angeles Clippers they gave up 44 points in the fourth quarter. In their loss to Cleveland they gave up 42 points in the final frame.

For the first time this season the Oklahoma City Thunder have lost three games in a row. Cleveland handed OKC their latest loss 114-104 Wednesday night. It was the first game since the Thunder announced that center Kendrick Perkins would miss the next six weeks after groin surgery.
Cleveland scored 42 points in the fourth quarter. The Thunder also had 19 turnovers in the game.
Former Oklahoma City Thunder guard DeAndre Liggins is back in the NBA. The Miami Heat signed Liggins to a ten day contract on Tuesday.
Liggins was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder but was released in September after he was charged with domestic abuse in the presence of a minor. He has been playing for Sioux Falls, which is the Miami Heat's D-League team.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys won their second game in a row Monday night in Fort Worth. THe Cowboys beat TCU 76-54 behind Phil Forte's 23 points. Forte hit five three pointers in the game with four of them in the first half.
Marcus Smart had to wear jersey number 43 instead of his usual number 33 because the equipment staff forgot to pack his regular jersey. Smart turned in a strong game with 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
The Oklahoma Sooners put up a good fight but after 40 minutes of action the Sooners were on the losing end of an 83-75 game with Kansas. The Sooners, who were trying to win in Lawrence for the first time since 1993, got solid games from Cam Clark and Buddy Hield. Clark had 18 points while Hield added 16.

Oklahoma beat Kansas State in men's basketball 86-73 to improve to 9-5 in the Big 12 Conference. All five starters were in double figure scoring with Buddy Hield leading the way with 18 points. Isaiah Cousins was next with 17 points.
OU used a 21-2 run in the first half to take control of the game, that they led by 19 points at halftime. The lead grew to as many 27 in the second half as Oklahoma improved to 20-7 on the season. More>>
The Oklahoma State Cowboys stopped their losing streak at seven games with a 84-62 win over Texas Tech. Marcus Smart played in his first game after serving a three game suspension for shoving a Red Raider fan in the Cowboys loss in Lubbock.
Smart scored 16 points to go with six steals and 10 assists. He was aided by LeBryan Nash who had 21 points and Phil Forte's 20.

The Oklahoma City Thunder should be getting star guard Russell Westbrook back sooner rather than later. Whether that is by Thursday's marquee matchup with Miami remains to be seen.
Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said Westbrook practiced Wednesday but would not say he would definitely play against the Heat. Brooks said they'll see how Westbrook feels Thursday to determine whether or not he plays. Brooks added that he liked what he saw from Westbrook.
OSU football fans looking forward to a Spring Game to wrap up spring practice will be disappointed. OSU will not have a spring game. They will have an open practice on April 5th that will last 90 minutes.
THe workout will have the usual position drills, one on one drills and other aspects of a Normal workout. Afterwards fans can come down on the field and meet with players and coaches.
Tough times continued for the Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball team. The Cowboys lost at Baylor 70-64 in overtime. It's the 7th straight loss for the Cowboys, who fell to 16-10 overall and 4-9 in the Big 12.

The Oklahoma women's basketball team came up on the short end of a 76-75 loss to 23rd ranked West Virginia. Oklahoma led the game 44-33 at the half and had four players in double figure scoring with Aaryn Ellenberg leading the way with 18 points. They also had 10 steals and five blocks in the game but all those numbers couldn't overcome a West Virginia offense that was led by Bria Holmes, who had 19 points.
That's why the play the game is a phrase that definitely fits Wednesday's Oklahoma-Texas Tech basketball. Oklahoma had handled the Red Raiders in Lubbock earlier this season and were a solid pick to get it done again. But the Sooners trailed virtually the entire game and lost 68-60.
Texas Tech led by 16 points at the half and pushed the lead to 20 in the second half before Oklahoma went on a 19-4 run.
The Oklahoma City Thunder played the first of their final two games before this weekend's All Star break. THe Portland Trailblazers, who had won two of the first three meetings this season, were the opponent. But this time the Thunder came out on top 98-95.
Marcus Smart began his three game suspension for shoving Texas Tech fan Jeff Orr by watching his Oklahoma State Cowboys lose at Texas 87-68.
Smart remained in Stillwater while the Cowboys dropped their 5th straight game and their 6th in the last seven games. With little depth and size the Cowboys trailed by 21 points at the half.
Texas was led by Javan Felix, who scored 16 of his 25 points in the first half. Isaiah Taylor added 16.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant was named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week Monday afternoon. Durant led the Thunder to a 3-1 record by averaging 31.8 points per game, 9 assists and 8 rebounds for the week.
Durant posted two double doubles which includes a 41 point, 10 rebound, 9 assist effort in Sunday's 112-100 win over the New York Knicks.

When Oklahoma put its 2014 football recruiting class to bed they did so with names from all over the country. Recruiting the state of Oklahoma and getting players from Texas is considered a given but the list also included players from Louisiana, Georgia, Ohio, Arizona, New Jersey, Alabama and California.
To some this is a new trend. But if you know your OU history you would know Oklahoma has always had the attitude they will go anywhere to find players.

Minnesota played the game without two key members of its front line. Center Nikola Pekovic missed the game with an ankle injury while Kevin Love was ruled out right before the game after taking a nasty fall the night before in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Oklahoma Sooners got a early gift the day before National Signing Day. Steven Parker, the top high school football player in the state of Oklahoma, committed to the Sooners.
Parker played both offense and defense in high school but he's projected as safety in college. Parker received scholarship offers from dozens of major college programs before settling on the Sooners. He says it was a tough call.

A tough day got tougher for the Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball team. After head coach Travis Ford dismissed freshmen guard Stevie Clark Monday afternoon, the Cowboys lost later that night to Iowa State 98-97 in triple overtime. It's the first time since 1988 that the Cyclones had won in Stillwater.
The Cowboys were led by LeBryan Nash who had 26 points and 8 rebounds while Marcus Smart added 20 points.
Stevie Clark second arrest in a month has cost him a spot on the Oklahoma State basketball team. OSU head coach Travis Ford has dismissed Clark after his latest brush with the law.
Clark was arrested Sunday morning around 1 AM for outraging public decency. . This follows an arrest January 1st for possession of marijuana. Clark was also sent home from a team trip to Florida earlier in the season for breaking team rules.
The OKlahoma City Thunder had lost the last six times they had played the Miami Heat. That streak ended as the Thunder beat the Heat 112-95.
The Thunder didn't start the game well. Miami went on an 18-0 run in the first quarter and led by as many as 18 points. But the bench got OKC back in it with Jeremy Lamb and Derek Fisher leading the way. Lamb finished with 18 points while Fisher added 15.
Baseball's best pitcher was in Oklahoma City Tuesday night. Los Angeles Dodger Clayton Kershaw was at the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame to receive the Warren Spahn Award.
The Spahn award to goes to baseball's top lefthanded pitcher. Kershaw, who also won the Cy Young Award, won 16 times last season. He had 232 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.83.
It's the second time Kershaw has won the Spahn award with 2011 being his first experience.
Oklahoma took the first round of Bedlam with a 88-76 win over Oklahoma State. Ryan Spangler had 15 point and 17 rebounds to go with freshmen Jordan Woodard, who scored 18 points.
The Cowboys got 22 points from Marcus Smart, 20 points from Phil Forte, who hit all six of his three point attempts. But Oklahoma answered every run the Cowboys had and improved their record to 17-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12.
The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Atlanta Hawks 111-109 with Kevin Durant getting it done late. Durant scored 41 points for the 11th straight game where he's scored at least 30 points.
Durant hit 15 of 25 shots and hit every big shot down the stretch including a 14 footer with 1.5 seconds left to give the Thunder the win. The Thunder had 10 block shots in the win with Serge Ibaka collecting six of those blocks.
Some say experience is the great teacher. The Denver Broncos hope that is the case in their Super Bowl XLVIII matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Broncos have four players on their roster who have played in the Super Bowl before while the Seahawks have no players who've played in the big game. Seattle is the first Super Bowl team since the 1990 Buffalo Bills not to have at least one player have Super Bowl experience.
Kevin Durant has been voted as a starter in the NBA All Star Game for the 5th time. Durant, who is the league's leading scorer, got the most votes in the Western Conference at 1.3 million.
Durant is joined on the starting five by former Oklahoma Sooner Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, Minnesota's Kevin Love and Stephen Curry of Golden State.
The 25th ranked Oklahoma men's basketball team beat TCU 77-69 but it was not as easy as many expected it to be. Despite the fact the Horned Frogs came in just 9-8 on the season which included an 0-5 mark in the Big 12, Oklahoma had to fight all the way to get the win.
The Sooners only led by four at the half and though they widened that to double digits in the second half they never could shake TCU.
The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs 111-105. Kevin Durant was again the ringleader with 36 points but he was not alone in the leadership category. Reggie Jackson had a strong game as well with 27 points and 8 assists.
The win improved OKC's record to 33-10 which is good enough for the top spot in the Western Conference. It's the ninth straight game that Durant has scored at least 30 points in a game.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have won three games in a row for the first time since they lost Russell Westbrook to his third knee surgery since last April. No surprise that Kevin Durant has been a big reason for the recent run. Durant has scored at least 30 points in seven straight games.

When the Big 12 Men's basketball season started Oklahoma State and Kansas were the picks to win the conference. It's early but so far nothing has changed that perception, although the league appears to be among the toughest if not the toughest in the country.
But the Jayhawks and Cowboys are where we thought they'd be which is at the top of the standings with Kansas undefeated at 3-0, while OSU and Kansas State are next at 3-1.

The Oklahoma City Thunder had Kevin Durant in the lineup at Memphis, which was good news. THe bad news for OKC is the Thunder still lost to the Grizzlies 90-87. Durant, who was listed as questionable due to a sore wrist when the team boarded a flight for Memphis, scored 37 points but it was not enough to offset Memphis. The Grizzlies had five players in double figures scoring led by Courtney Lee with 24 points and Zach Randolph's 23.
The Oklahoma Sooners lost at Kansas State 72-66. it was the Sooners first game since entering the A.P. Poll at number 25. Oklahoma got 21 points and 14 rebounds from Ryan Spangler but they only had one other player in double figures. Buddy Hield had 12 points for the Sooners but none in the second half.
Meanwhile K-State had five players score in double figures with freshmen Marcus Foster leading the way with 18 points.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant did not practice Monday and his status for the team's game at Memphis Tuesday is up in the air. When head coach Scott Brooks was asked would Durant play his reply was "We'll see."

Many Oklahoma State football fans spent time wondering if head coach Mike Gundy would consider the Texas coaching vacancy. It turns out they should have been worried about offensive line coach Joe Wickline. Yahoo Sports is reporting that Wickline is leaving Oklahoma State take over the offensive line coaching duties at the University of Texas.
